Courage to Speak up for Hong Kong an Essential Quality
in the Successor to Anson Chan

The Democratic Party of Hong Kong finds Mrs. Anson Chan's resignation from her position as Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR more than a year before the expiry of her contract regrettable.

"We are concerned that Mrs. Chan's resignation would impact on the stability of the civil service and the confidence of the Hong Kong community at large.กจ Mr. Martin LEE said. "More importantly, we wish to see in the successor to Mrs. Chan continual commitment to speaking up for Hong Kong, safeguarding Hong Kong people's interests, and defending our freedoms and human rights."
